Training

Hi Chaffee Trail Team!

Here is some information I received at a Destination training course.
I have a handbook that covers the Destination reading scope and sequence for grades K-5. The book includes specific skills and strategies that each unit covers for your grade level. I have two very helpful reference sheets to assist in assigning and creating activities and test from shared lesson plans, creating new class (group), adding and removing students, and generating reports. The quick reference sheet also includes tech support contact information. I will place a copy in your box for this school year. Here is some detailed information you need to know:

Do not assign any task or test until notification by the district or that our school has officially completed a student count (you may loose the test you create or assignments). The district will be connecting Destination to Genesis during this time (completion should be done by 10th day of school). This will be a big help later in the year when we receive new students.

When using Destination in a whole group setting, sign in as demo student and not as the teacher. Signing in as a demo student will allow for the students to do whole group activities with you and give you the opportunity to teach the students the skills and strategies as they would learn them on the computer independently. Each grade level has a demo student password of chaffeetrail and grade level.

When working on math under the Exploration tab, always allow the student at least 15-20 minutes after login to complete entire lesson. If students don't have time to complete entire math lesson, they will have to start from the beginning of the lesson every time they login until completed. Students will become frustrated. This is not the case for reading.

Hope this helps and please feel free to borrow the Destination handbook, if you need specific information about what it offers for your grade level. You can also find most of the information under the Riverdeep/Destination site.
